De Andre is a skilled educator. He thrived when working to teach new hires about AAMI processes. During his time with , De Andre implemented a training program that resulted in new staff being trained in instruments 75% faster than the previous average. He is enthusiastic and friendly and has an eye for process improvement and problem solving.

De Andre made a number of noteworthy contributions to the department. He implemented a red tag priority system which allowed the department to quickly identify and process items which needed a quick turnaround, as well as creating a documentation process for proper tracking and monitoring of early release and flash instruments. He worked with Hospital administration to demonstrate the need for additional staff and secured resources to hire seven additional FTEs. Moreover, he created a lead role in the department which increased the productivity of our supervisors and further enhanced communication between sterile processing and the Operating Room (OR). De Andre reprioritized the tasks of each shift to facilitate earlier case picking and reduced the number of cases that needed to be picked at 7:30am by 90%. He also implemented a new breakdown process in decontamination which led to increased productivity and completion of all trays by 11:00 pm each night, which was a multi-hour improvement.

De Andre made significant, noteworthy technical changes in the Sterile Processing Department, including implementing a change in instrument processing which reduced bioburden on instruments and implementing a product change reducing contamination in neurosurgical pans. He also developed a training plan for an innovative model to allow safe and rapid redeployment of staff from other areas of the system into sterile processing as needed. De Andre also worked collaboratively with Sterile Processing teams, Operating Room teams, and multiple clinics to make system-wide improvements.

Mr. Delsol demonstrated flexibility in challenging times and came into the workplace on all shifts and on weekends as needed to support his supervisors and solve department problems. He was also skilled in presenting information effectively to multiple groups, including physician and nursing leaders.

De Andre is friendly and approachable. He has a great deal of enthusiasm and passion for sterile processing and is knowledgeable about sterile processing standards, regulations and processes. He identified gaps in the current system at and developed action plans for improvement.

De Andre made several substantial contributions while he worked at He completed an assessment of the sterile processing department, identifying and providing high level recommendations related to the staffing model, standardization of processes, streamlining communication, and staff development and training. He developed a system to better prioritize items for reprocessing. In addition, De Andre developed a new staffing structure that included a lead position on each shift to serve as a single point of contact for staff and developed a plan for cross training so all staff could work in the area of the department where the need was greatest. He hired additional staff and eliminated some staff duties to free resources to accomplish critical work. He also successfully reduced the number of quality events in the department.

De Andre's passion and dedication to patient safety was evident during my time working with him. We wish him well in his future endeavors.
